Hello and welcome to my page! My name is Dr. Ranjit Kumar Joshi and I have more than 20 years of experience in the field of child health dedicated mostly to tiny newborns. I have always had a passion for working with babies, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to do what I love every day.

My passion for neonatology began during my MBBS years when I had the opportunity to work in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Witnessing the care and dedication given to these fragile babies inspired me to pursue a career in neonatology. Anthem of my life is “Happy Children-Happy World”. Always kids first, who are the forerunners for nation-building and a healthy society.

After completing my post-graduation in in paediatrics, from SCB MEDICAL COLLEGE, Cuttuack, I specialized in Neonatology at advance center of Neonatalogy and Paediatrics, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi and have since worked in various hospitals across the country, now leading paediatrics department at Apollo, Bhubaneswar. I have fellowship from the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP) along with Professional Memberships of Indian Medical Association, Association of Medical Consultants and Indian Academy of Paediatrics.

As a neonatal doctor, I am dedicated to providing the highest quality care to premature and critically ill newborns. I work closely with families and other medical professionals to develop individualized treatment plans for each of my patients… I have experience caring for premature infants, babies with congenital anomalies, and kids, toddlers with a wide range of medical conditions.

I strongly believe in “rational antibiotics policy”. Antibiotics should only be prescribed when they are needed, and the selection of the appropriate antibiotic should be based on the type of infection, the age and weight of the child. The dose and duration of treatment should be tailored to the individual child, and parents should be educated about the importance of completing the full course of antibiotics as prescribed. In addition, non-antibiotic treatments such as pain relief, fever management, and hydration should be considered as adjuncts to antibiotics where appropriate. By using antibiotics rationally in children, we can minimize the risk of adverse effects and reduce the development of antibiotic resistance in the community.
