MIS-C MULTISYSTEM INFLAMMATORY SYNDROME IN CHILDREN

It’s a syndrome now a days seen in children (0-19years) who are infected with covid few weeks back, may be asymptomatic or mild to moderate symptoms at that time. Few history are like parents infected with Covid, but kids are asymptomatic.
Causes
A syndrome with inflammatory response can be after any Viral infection , now a days after Covid.
- Persistent high grade fever
- Red rashes
- Red eyes
- Strawberry tongue
- Cracking of lips
- Redness in mouth and pharynx
- Swelling of hand and feet
- Peeling of skin around nails
- Diarrhoea
- Vomiting
- Pain abdomen
High index of suspicion in kids having past history of Covid or related symptoms or contact with family members having Covid few weeks back.

2. Detail clinical evaluation
3. Blood tests
4. ECHO (Pediatric Cardiologists)
With confirmed or suspected diagnosis, treatment should be started as soon as possible with admission to Pediatric ICU or Pediatric HDU depending on clinical status.
- High index of suspicion in any persistent high grade fever in kids during these period
- Require proper evaluation with blood tests, X ray and ECHO
- Treatment with immunoglobulin and Steroids
- Pretty good response in early diagnosis and prompt treatment
- After 1st wave of Covid my team has diagnosed and treated more than 50 cases successfully
- We have started getting these cases with decline in cases of 2nd wave.
